Andrews family
James L. Andrews was a ship carpenter by trade, then a house carpenter, known as a "fine and conscientious workman". He enlisted in the Sixth NC Regt. in 1861 and served as a Confederate throughout the Civil War. Wiley relocated from Fayetteville to Greensboro in 1910, a retired painting contractor and interior decorator, who served at SHBC as a head usher for several years, and an elder. The wedding of Wiley & Ina was in the home of Mr. & Mrs. J.A. McDonald, officiated by R.G. Kendrick, pastor of the Forest Avenue Baptist Church, whose location was the first meeting place of SHBC.

Robert & Thelma were longtime members of Parkway Gospel Chapel in Winston-Salem. Robert retired after 33.5 years at RJR, and was the athletic director for Pop Warner Little League.

While at SWBS, he pastored Shiloh Baptist in Dawson, TX. He and Connie served as independent missionaries 1950-1987 in Chile, and served on staff at Providence Baptist in Charlotte, NC. Wife: Constance "Connie" May Andrews (b. 1925 Wenham, MA).

In 1968, he was on the Board of Directors for the Greensboro YMCA, and 1969-1976 vice-pres. of operations for Mayberry Ice Cream Shoppes. His last year at Mayberry, he was the president of the National Ice Cream Retailers Assoc., and chosen as their "man of the year" in 1986. He was vice-pres. of national sales at Alamance Foods from 1976-2002, then retired to serve the Lord more with his family at Gate City Baptist Church in Jamestown.

- Greensboro News and Record 2006-2-5: Greensboro: "Lola Edna Monnik, 80, died Feb. 2, 2006 at the Pittsboro Christian Village in Pittsboro. A funeral service for Edna will be held at 3pm today at Shannon Hills Bible Chapel with Mark Shelley and Charles Crawford officiating. Mrs. Monnik will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Bastiaan Stephanus Monnik at Gethsemane UMC cemetery.
Born in Brown Summit the daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Elmore, Edna was a graduate of Monticello High School, followed by business college. She then worked with Burlington Mills and McCollum Oil Co. [in Randleman]. Following that, Edna attended nursing school in Augusta, Ga. She then answered her Lord's calling as a missionary to the Zulus in South Africa commended by Shannon Hills Bible Chapel. In passing from this life to her Heavenly reward, Edna leaves behind her sons, Stephen of Slidell, La.; David of Durban, South Africa; and Karl of Melbourne, Australia; eight grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters, Jim Elmore of San Antonio, Texas, Frances Corry of Gaffney, S.C., Richard Elmore of Geneva, Fla., Peggy Cates & Gladys Moore of Greensboro, Max Elmore of Gibsonville, and Jean Horner of Raleigh... Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund of Pittsboro Christian Village... or to the Christian Missions in Many Lands.
- Know Your Missionaries 1972, Everyday Publications: "Bastian (sic) Monnik was born in Holland, and emigrated to South Africa with his parents. He grew up in that country and came to know the Lord early in life. He was commended to the work by an assembly in South Africa in 1957. Mrs. Edna Monnik was born in North Carolina and saved in 1946. She had some business training and after graduating as a nurse, had three years of nursing experience in addition to a year at Emmaus Bible School. She was commended on Nov. 1, 1953, primarily by her home assembly at Forest Avenue Tabernacle, Greensboro, NC. She went out to the field the following year and was married to Mr. Monnik in South Africa in 1958."
