North Birmingham Gospel Chapel was the first open brethren assembly in Alabama comprised primarily of African-Americans believers. It was founded prior to 1941, as Birmingham Christian Tabernacle, at which time it was meeting at 1300 6th Ave. N. By 1947, it had rebranded as North Birmingham Gospel Chapel, and was meeting at 2301 18th St. N., and by 1952 until its folding around 1968 in the home of William Rudolph at 1810 23rd Ave. N.
