Devine Street Gospel Chapel was founded in 1937, according to Annabelle Bruce, whose parents helped start the meeting, which met in one location until 1943 when they built their present structure. Devine Street Gospel Chapel was founded in 1937 as a hive off from Sarnia Gospel Hall in Ontario (founded in 1887) by the families of Marwick, Durley & Shand.

It met in the home of Adderley & Leila Durley until 1943 when they built their present structure under the capable leadership of Mr. Durley who was skilled as a finish carpenter, having also constructed the cabins at the Forest Cliff camp.
