Percy William Aish
Percy William Aish was born January 1898 in Chew Magna, Somerset, UK, son of William Edwin Aish and his wife Ada Eliza Chappell, who married in 1897 in Somerset. Percy had a younger brother, Gilbert George Aish (1900-1970). There is also a John Thomas Aish that died in 1984, buried in the same cemetery as Gilbert.
Percy came to Uruguay in 1926, commended from Tatariamaka, Taranaki, New Zealand, where the family Aish had moved. In Uruguay he fell in love with another missionary, Helen Ruth Holmes, born 1893, who was commended by Wanganui, New Zealand, in 1927 to Bolivia. They married in La Teja, Montevideo, Uruguay on 15 May 1928.
They had at least two children:
- Edwin Gordon Aish (b. 1930) married Nahir Isabel Casas;
- Son: Edwin Daniel Aish Casas; b. Dec. 19, 1956 in Montevideo
- Loraine Sophia Aish (b. 1934) married a Fitzgerald.
They served in Uruguay till 1947, when they changed field of work, coming into Argentina, where they served till retirement. Percy died on November 27, 1958 in New Zealand, at 60 years old, and Helen died on May 15, 1985, at 93 years old.
