Rome Meeting Room, GA

There have been EB assemblies in Rome, Floyd, Georgia since prior to 1878. In that year, there were two assemblies, one was meeting in the home of Noble Green Watson, and the other in the home of George Graham.

In 1879, there were four assemblies in that area, meeting presumably in homes, in fellowship with one another:

  • Noble Green Watson (b. 1847 Carroll Co., GA - d. 1926 Rome, GA)
    • 3 mi. W., Div. 307, Flat Woods
    • Lord A.P. Cecil may have resided in the Flat Woods (NW section of Rome) here in 1880, as did Charles Holder (b. 1851 N.Y.) & Halton Turnor (b. 1840 Eng.), all listed as ministers.
  • Maj. John Gibbes Barnwell II (b. 1816 Beaufort, S.C. - d. 1905 Stateburg, Sumter, SC)
    • 6 mi. SW
  • Charles Gadiz/Gattis
    • 6 mi. SE of Rome, met thru 1889
  • Levi Dover
    • 7 mi. N

Lord Cecil, Christopher Hatton Turner, & Charles Holder resided together in 1880 at Div. 385 of Flat Woods, in the NW corner of what is now part of Rome. Their occupations in the 1880 Census were listed as "Minister".

By 1895-1896, there was one TW-Lowe meeting with J.G. Barnwell, Noble Watson and Charles Gattis listed on contacts.

By 1911, there was one meeting affiliated with the TW's, in the home of John Barnwell II, still 6 mi. SW of Rome, and meeting times were Su B 11am, G 7:30pm; Wed R 7:30pm. W.D. Close was also listed as a correspondent, along with G.S. Graham & Noble G. Watson. It is unknown when this meeting folded, but it was still active in 2005 with two correspondents.
