==Childhood==
Ralph Edwin Littlefield was born around 1886 to [[James Edwin Littlefield]] (1860-1950) and Clara Etta Bomgardner (1865-1956), the 2nd generation of a total of four generations of optometry. His son would become the first optometrist in the Kansas City area to fit contact lenses, and holds patents on their manufacture. His father founded a school teaching optometry, trade associations, and wrote a book on the subject.
==Marriage and Family==Marriage: 1916 Ralph married Mary Mulvin Carnie (1889-1975), born in Canada.<br />* Mary's father: Charles Ferrier Carnie (1861-1914), scholar, born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, to Alexander & Alison (Ferrier) Carnie.<br />* Mary's mother: Mabel (Cuthbert) Carnie, born 1867 in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.  Her father was born in Kirkton, Scotland, and her mother born in Canada.  <br />* Charles & Mabel died in Kansas City, Missouri
==Children==<br />Ralph married and Mary Mulvin had four children: <br />* John Carnie Littlefield (18891917-19751973), who was born in Canada to Charles Ferrier <br />* Alice (18611920-1914) & Mabel Cuthbert Carnie.  Charles was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, to Alexander & Alison Ferrier Carnie, and Charles was a scholar by trade.  Mabel was born in Canada, her father born in Scotland, and her mother in Canada.    Charles & Mabel died in Kansas City Missouri.     
Ralph and Mary had four children: John Carnie Littlefield (1917-1973), Alice (1920-), * [[Lawrence Littlefield|Lawrence]] (1922-2016) and <br />* James Woodbury Littlefield (1925-2014).
