In January of 1921, a temporary lodging place for missionaries on furlough was started at 124 42nd Street, Union City, New Jersey, initially known as the "Hasse Missionary Home" but changed names in 1950 upon August's mother Julia's death in 1949 to the "Julia Hasse Missionary Memorial Home". Trustees in 1950 were listed in Light & Liberty Magazine as:
* Martin A. Hasse, President* John Hass, Vice-President* Franklin E. Spangler, Secretary-Treasurer (who was also Correspondent), of Fairview, NJ* Arthur S. Bowman* Chester W. Schuessler
