Denis Legendre's parents were among the first in<span style="font-size: 0.939em;"> nearby </span><span style="font-size: 0.939em;">S</span><span style="font-size: 0.939em;">hawinigan to trust the Lord. They had seven children and cottage meetings were often held in their small apartment. Later Mr. Legendre often took a gospel meeting; he was a forceful speaker. At the age of forty the Lord took him home after a year of terrible suffering from cancer. </span>
<span style="font-size: 0.939em;">His son, Denis, eventually became an elder in the Shawinigan assembly, a most conscientious man who took most of the responsibility for its wellbeing, especially after the departure of commended worker [[Joseph Darling]] . A split in the Shawinigan assembly in the fall of 2001 led to his the eventual departure of Denis along with the more conservative element and the beginning of this one the work at Saint-Boniface. </span>
