History
L'Assemblee Chretienne Assemblée chrétienne de Laval Des Rapides, Laval, Greater Montreal, Southcentral Quebec, Canada, was a French open brethren assembly founded in 1973 1975 that was active thru 2000through 1997. The Assemblée chrétienne de Laval-des-Rapides, a first hive-off from the Grande Maison, began in February 1975 in the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul municipality, to the north, just off the island of Montreal. At the outset, the group benefitted from the able leadership of Bill Wolitarsky along with Leslie Russell and Rod Martin. By 1980, the assembly had relocated to Laval-des-Rapides and was then meeting in their newly remodeled quarters. The following year, it commended André Marchildon and his wife, Dorothée, to full-time work. A decade later, due to André’s administrative responsibilities with regard to the various assemblies of La Grande Maison as well as with the Heritage Christian School, the assembly commended Michel Morency to full-time pastoral and teaching ministry among them. The meeting was then known as the Assemblée chrétienne de Duvernay. By 1996, both couples had left the work. When the assembly saw how La Source in Saint-Léonard had closed, they followed suit the next year, its members going to other churches and the assembly ceased to function.
