Oakland Gospel Hall was founded ca. 1887, and met at 475 Sixth Street in Oakland (presently at or near the Oakland Police Station) as an open brethren assembly, possibly by Donald Ross. By 1893, there was a separate assembly meeting at Brush & Seventh Sts., as well as one at 1064 Market St. by 1900, and 453 Eight Eighth St. by 1902.
By 1904, there were two assemblies listed in the address book, the Gospel Hall at 1607 W. Seventh, with correspondent of John McIntyre, who was one of the first baptized in Oakland in 1887, and the second assembly was listed as East Oakland Gospel Hall at 1100 23rd Ave., which met there since 1902 or before.
