There was a French open brethren assembly, Eglise chrétienne Anaja, at Saint-Roch-sur-Richeliu, [[Quebec|Québec]] from 1979-1982.
Eglise chrétienne Anaja, aka Groupe évangélique Anaja, celebrated the Lord’s supper for the first time on February 4, 1979. This initiative, which had begun a year earlier, came from believers in fellowship at the assembly in Sorel, some 20 kilometers to the east, who desired a meeting closer to where all were living. Meetings were conducted in homes. The project was encouraged by commended worker [[Roland Lacombe]] who had been instrumental in beginning assemblies in La Tuque, Drummondville and Saint-Guillaume as well as that in Sorel. The group sought affiliation with the [[CBCQ]], twenty-two persons signing the request, but for some reason this did not materialize. Nothing more is known about the assembly which appears to have closed in by 1982. The name Anaja, apparently of African-American origin, means ''The Eternal has answered''.
