Leslie was saved when he was 17 years old. He worked in an optical firm until he was 25, at which time he was called to labor for the Lord full-time. During this time of early ministry, he traveled via bicycle among farmers in the Peace River Country in Northern [[Alberta]]. He lived in a trapper's cabin, and the assembly at Westlock shared in the fruits of his labors. After Leslie married Frances Leslie and his father, Gilbert, helped in planting the [[Grace and Truth Gospel Hall, Edmonton, AB|Grace and Truth Gospel Hall]] in Edmonton.
