** Husband: Frank Ernest Birtwhistle (b. 1889 Liverpool Eng. - d. 1971 Riverside, CA). The Birtwhistle family emigrated to Canada in 1912, settling first at Winnipeg, MB, he was working there in 1916 as a railway clerk. He then went to Vancouver, then in 1922 to Los Angeles, CA. In 1930, Frank lived in Santa Barbara with his parents, employed as a commercial artist. In 1950 in Santa Barbara he owned a medical lab where Beryl worked. Parents: George P. Birtwhistle (b. 1862 Chester, Ches, Eng. - d. 1931 Ladner, B.C.) & Mary Edith Todhunter Birtwhistle (b. 1866 Liverpool, Eng. - d. 1935 Woodland, Yolo, CA). George Birtwhistle was a technical teacher in Los Angeles, then the first teacher at the T.J. Trapp technical school. Frank's brother was George Birtwhistle, Jr. (Winnipeg, MB).
* Hugh Nelson Stewart Nichols (b. 1900 St. Peters, Guernsey, C.I. - d. 1961 Victoria, [[British Columbia|B.C.) employed 1921 as a clerk in Oakland. In 1929, Hugh was living at home on Hurlingham in San Mateo, and employed as a salesman for the K.E. Paul Co. insurance agency in Burlingame. Hugh owned the Nichols Realty Co., "Real Estate and Insurance Counselors" which was located at 155 B, San Mateo. In 1940, he and his wife Phyllis removed to Belmont. Wife (1939): Phyllis Deborah Woodward Nichols (1905-1993 Victoria, B.C.), daughter of Arthur Joseph Woodward (b. 1856 Uckington, Glos., Eng. - d. 1936 Victoria, B.C.) & Adelaide Woodward (b. 1861 Tithe House, Knutsford, Ches, Eng. - d. 1944 Victoria, B.C.), who were 1st cousins. Hugh & Phyllis had two children.
