Hugh owned the Nichols Realty Co., "Real Estate and Insurance Counselors" which was located at 155 B, San Mateo. In 1940, he and his wife Phyllis removed to Belmont. Wife (1939): Phyllis Deborah Woodward Nichols (1905-1993 Victoria, B.C.), daughter of Arthur Joseph Woodward (b. 1856 Uckington, Glos., Eng. - d. 1936 Victoria, B.C.) & Adelaide Woodward (b. 1861 Tithe House, Knutsford, Ches, Eng. - d. 1944 Victoria, B.C.), who were 1st cousins.
