** c/o Jean Gabriel Thonney 1870-1880+ (b. 1843), met in his home in 1870. He was born May 14, 1827 in Vullien, Vaud, Switzerland, the son of Ferdinand Thonney (1760-1832) and Julie Bahon Thonney (1784-1836), emigrating to the U.S. on Apr. 15, 1850, married Julia Mennet (b. 1828; emig. 1851 to New Orleans; d. 1916) on Jan. 17, 1852 at Edwardsville (but possibly Sebastipol), Madison, [[Illinois|IL]]. By 1856 he lived at Greenville, Bond, IL, and in 1870 he was at Beaver Creek, Bond, IL where it is presumed the year he relocated to Walla Walla, likely via the Oregon Trail. Henry Rochat lived here 1883-1884.
