* John Martin & Br. Mitchell did evangelistic ministry here in a schoolhouse in 1887-1888, according to "The Barley Cake". A few young people made professions. John Martin also ministered in 1887 in Bouctouche, and in 1888 in West Galloway & East Galloway.

** Frances McMullen Heidman's grandmother saved in 1886 at meetings held by George Hynmers (Boston, MA) while reading John 5:24, as per her mother Mrs. Isaac McMullen's recollections. Her grandmother held meetings in their home when preachers visited. By 1902, these meetings were held in Lakeville in the farmhouse of Flora MacNeil Howard, when moving from Black River, as per her son Donald Howard (New Bedford, MA).
