* LIP 1927-3-11: "The patrol system recently inaugurated in this county is proving out good here. Carl Parriott is responsible for the state road in this section and has it looking like a billiard table."

* The Morning Chronicle, Manhattan, KS 1927-8-24: Noted Kansas Rancher Dies: Kansas City, Aug. 23: AP: "John Moffett, 74, widely known rancher and stockman, died at his home here today. He had been associated for more than 30 years with his brother in a livestock commission firm here. As a young man he went by wagon from Leavenworth to Harper county, Kansas where he settled. He is survived by his widow, who was Miss Helen Mustard of Manchester, Kansas."
** This may have been the same John Moffett that gave gospel meetings in Long Island in 1912. The ''Manhattan Mercury'' previously indicated that his family also owned large amounts of land in Oklahoma and Missouri.
*** The ''Fort Scott Tribune'' also carried an obit for a John B. Moffett who died at the age of 85 in 1924, who was a native of Pittsburgh, PA where he practiced dentistry, then settled in Manhattan, KS where he became a contractor. He associated with the Topeka United Presbyterian Church for 30 years, then came to Fort Scott, KS about 1899. He was said to be "well read in the Scriptures and an interesting talker, especially on religious subjects".
