Dr. Lestock Holland Reid was a practicing surgeon in Bayfield, Portsea Island in 1881, and continued this work in Bowmanville in 1901 where he was in fellowship with the Raven-eb (see Ontario, but by the time he had moved to Peterborough in 1911, he and his wife had converted to Mary Baker Eddy's religion, and their remaining children at home had converted to Anglican/Episcopal before 1901, their son Kenneth (1874-1946) had already left home by that point and remained PB.  Kenneth's brother Dr. Arthur Lestock Reid (b. 1871 Southsea, Portsea Island, Eng. - d. 1947 Blandford, Dorset, Eng.) followed in the occupational footsteps of his father, and became a physician and surgeon in Thirlmere, St. Alban's Road, Watford, Hertsfordshire, Eng. by 1899, having graduated with his degrees in 1893 in England. In 1891, he was PB with his family in Bowmanville, unknown if he continued.  Lestock's parents were Henry Solomon Reid (b. 1792 Calcutta, West Bengal, India - d. 1852 Bowmanville/Darlington, ON) & Jane Caroline Blair Reid (b. 1797 London, Eng.; m. 1821 Calcutta, India; d. 1834 Eltham, Kent, Eng.). In 1808, Henry Reid enlisted as a cadet in the infantry for the East India Co. and served until at least 1831, earning the position of lieutenant.  There is a sketchbook at the Yale Center of British Art created by Jane Reid that contains sketches of figures, cattle and views in Calcutta 1821-1831. According to the Manitoba Historical Society, Lestock's brother John L. Reid (b. 1841 Bowmanville, ON) was educated McGill University in Montreal, working as a coffee/cotton planter in Australia and the Fiji Islands 1862-1868 before moving to Winnipeg in 1870 where he served the Dominion Gov't as a surveyor for the Indian Dept. at Prince Albert, SK in 1877, and is memorialized in the first volume (1911) of Who's Who in Western Canada. A presumed brother of Henry Solomon Reid was Lestock Robert Reid (1799-1878) who served as the Governor of Bombay 1846-1847 during the rule of the East India Co., according to his Wikipedia entry. It also indicates he served in the Bombay Civil Service 1817-1850, and as President of the Bombay branch of The Asiatic Society 1846-1849.  One of L.R.R.'s daughters married Thomas Livingstone Learmonth (b. 1818 Calcutta, India - d. 1903 Edinburgh, Scotland) who is credited as an early settler of Ballarat, NSW, Australia, an inscription on his gravestone identifies him as "a sinner saved", according to his Wikipedia. His uncle John Learmonth (1789-1858) was Lord Provost of Edinburgh 1831-1833.  * Dr. Kenneth Lowder Reid +1898-1946 (b. 1874-1946) born Southsea, Portsmouth, Portsea Island, Hampshire, EnglandEng.; emig. 1898;d. 1946 Atlanta, GA), son of Dr. Lestock Holland Reid (b. 1844 Bowmanville, ON - d. 1914 Peterborough, ON) & Juliet Margaret Lowder Reid (b. 1844 Bath, Eng. - d. 1923 Peterborough, ON). * Catherine "Cassie" Elizabeth Thompson 1905-1947 (1871-b. 1868 Oil Springs, Lambton, ON; m. 1905 Toronto, York, ON; d. 1947Atlanta, GA);, daughter of Samuel Catharine Thompson & Bunes Thompson.** Katherine Mary Kathleen Reid 1907 (b.
