L&L 1944-2: Matthew Sproul, of Pawtucket, R.I., age 57, after a prolonged illness, peacefully passed away on Dec. 30 to see the One he loved. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn. Up to the last he had words of cheer for all who came in contact with him; but, in the will of God, the living voice is silent, but words spoken will live on."
L&L 1944-3: Matthew Sproul passed away Dec. 28, 1943, after an illness of 14 years. He was connected with the Pawtucket, R.I. Assembly for 35 years. He was saved in Paisley, Scotland through the preaching of a James Hamilton. He was a man who loved and spoke often of his Redeemer. He loved his Bible and stood for "The Truth". * Matthew Sproul '''+1907-1943''' (b. 1887 Paisley, Renfrewshire, [[Scotland|Scot.]] - d. 1943 Pawtucket, R.I.), son of John Sproul (b. 1845 Paisley, Scot.) & Mary McInnes Sproul (b. 1846 Paisley, Scot.). John was employed as a warehouseman for Johnstone Cotton Mill on Collier St., and later a dyer. In 1920 he owned a shoemaking shop in Pawtucket.* Mary McBride Sproul '''+1907-1943+''' (b. 1889 Scot. - d. 1949 Providence, R.I.), daughter of Samuel McBride (b. 1863 Co. Antrim, [[Northern Ireland|N.I.]] - d. 1939 Queens, [[New York#New York City|NYC]], NY) & Elizabeth Millar McBride (b. 1864 Kilbirnie, North Ayrshire, Scot. - d. 1932).** John Sproul '''1911-1929+''' (b. 1911 Central Falls, R.I. - d. 1985 North Providence, R.I.). He worked for the Bro Cab Co. in Pawtucket for more than 25 years before retiring, and was appointed to the Fox Point Soccer Association Hall of Fame in 1978. Wife: Adrienne Merow Sproul (b. 1916 R.I. - d. 1992 Central Falls, R.I.). ** Samuel McBride Sproul '''1913-1931+''' (b. 1913 Central Falls, R.I. - d. 1990). Wife: Elizabeth Mae MacDonald Sproul (1906-1970).** Elizabeth Miller Sproul Robinson '''1916-1934+''' (b. 1916 Pawtucket, R.I. - d. 2004 Cumberland, R.I.). Husband: Anthony Stanford Robinson (b. 1917 Providence, R.I. - d. 2000 Lincoln, R.I.) ** Lt. Col. Matthew Sproul, Jr. '''1918-1936+''' (b. 1918 Pawtucket, R.I. - d. 2000 Calera, Shelby, [[Alabama|AL]]). Matthew served with the USAF in WWII & Korea. Wife: Zemma Lowery Sproul (b. 1926 Montevallo, Shelby, AL - d. 2019). Matthew was a supporter of [https://www.bigoak.org/ Big Oak Ranch], a Christ-centered outreach for damaged children in Springdale, Alabama.
