John S. Downie was a hardware merchant in Chatham in 1880as early as 1871. He was the earliest known PB in that village, followed by the Simpson family. The Downie family was Presby. in 1871. In 1881, two Jones sisters also lived with the Downie family that were also PB: Sarah Jones (b. 1861 ON) & Emma Jones (b. 1866 ON). By 1891, the Downie family had relocated to Windsor, and were "Free Church" at that point. * John S.
