* LOI 1960-9/10: "An Army Chaplain Reports":
"My first tour of duty is for three years and began May 22, 1960. We are stationed at Fort Bliss (in El Paso, TX), Texas. In the few weeks we have had many opportunities to preach the good news of our Savior. These opportunities go beyond the military bounds and out into the civilian communities. We have had many contacts with Christians here in El Paso and are thrilled at the work many of them are doing. We have come to know Mr. and Mrs. John Halliday, who are doing a good work in the gospel at the Mexican border, reaching Mexican workers as they come across into the States.
Ruth has begun a Child Evangelism class in our home each Thursday afternoon and has been having large numbers of children out. Many of these are from military families and do not often get out to church or Sunday school."
