==Cowan family==
AA 1949-5: Toronto: A. Reyburn: "On Wednesday, April 13th, Bro. W. George Cowan passed into the presence of the Lord after a brief illness. Brother Cowan was in his 55th year. Born in Toronto he was saved at the age of 12 during a series of meetings conducted by the late Mr. Wm. Matthews. For many years he was associated with Toronto assemblies at Broadview Avenue, Pape Ave., and Central Hall. For five years he lived in the [[New York]] area and gathered with the believers in Yonkers. Returning to Toronto he again took his place with the assembly at Central Gospel Hall. Brother Cowan was a man greatly beloved and his passing will be felt keenly by all. In business circles he was known as a sterling Christian gentleman.

The funeral was held on Saturday, April 16th, from the Trull Funeral Home and was attended by a large company of relatives and friends representative of assemblies in Toronto, surrounding districts of Ontario, and from New
York and [[New Jersey]]. Bro. P. Hynd of Toronto feelingly read four stanzas of the beautiful hymn "In Immanuel's Land." Bro. Jas. Gunn prayed and spoke briefly of his long association with Bro. Cowan, taking for his message the words of David at the death of Abner "There is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel" (2 Sam. 4:38).

Bro. Don Parker of New York followed Bro. Gunn and spoke fittingly from Acts 1:8, Daniel 12:2-3 and 1 Cor. 15:51-58.
Bro. P. Hynd closed the service with prayer. At the cemetery Bro. Gordon Johnston committed the precious remains to the keeping of Him who is the Resurrection and the Life against the Day of Resurrection.

Brother George Cowan spent his life in the service of the Lord he loved. Early days were busy with tract distribution and open air work in Toronto and surrounding districts. He early, took great interest in missionary work and for a number of years was one of the Missionary Service Committee in Toronto. In recent years he had a great care for aged saints and often visited Elim Homes at Waubaushene, Ont. The theme of his ministry ever was Christ, His Cross and His Coming Again, especially in relation to world events. Truly it can be said of George Cowan that he was a good man and faithful above many."

Our beloved sister was saved on the last night of a six-week gospel series in Toronto on Nov. 26, 1939. She was the fourth generation to be gathered to the Name of our Lord Jesus, and continued steadfastly in Highfield and Pape (now Victoria Park). Margaret spent much time making clothing and scriptural gifts for underprivileged children in other lands. She had the joy of seeing her three children saved, one of whom is already in heaven. Margaret was a true helpmeet to her husband Norman. At her request, the gospel was plainly preached at her very large funeral."
* Norman Lorimer '''+1989+'''. Norman was correspondent in 1989.
* Margaret Lorimer '''1939?+'''
In 1927, James Mahaffy was the correspondent, and the earliest known. 1927 @ 157 Glebemount. In 1921, census registered him, his wife, and three children as "Christian". By 1931, James was registered as Presbyterian, and his wife Sarah and their daughter Lillian as Anglican. James was employed in 1921 in shipping for a factory, and in 1931 as a bookkeeper for a furniture store. In 1901, as family was registered as "Brethren in Christ", and their daughter Charlotte (and husband Oscar) were both "Brethren" in 1922 at the time of her wedding, and their son Norman also in 1924, it will be presumed here that James & Sarah and their family were among the founders of this assembly, and all active as early as 1922 thru at least 1927.
AA 1934-4: "Mr. James Mehaffey, born in Lurgen (sic), Ireland, 68 years ago has also died in Toronto. Saved for many years and in fellowship first in Broadview and later in Pape Ave. Assemblies, where he was a help and guide to the Lord's people. The funeral service, which was largely attended, was conducted by brethren R. Telfer, Johnston and Smith." * James Alexander Mahaffy '''+1922-1927+1934''' (b. 1866 Lurgan, Co.
