James John Alexander Munro was born December 22, 1882 and raised in Forest, Lambdon County, Ontario, Canada as son of [[George Munro]] (1842-1892) and [[Margaret Johnson Munro]] (1857-1944).
James' siblings were [[Flora P.N. Munro_Hawthorne]] (1879-), Dr. [[Hugh Johnson Munro]] (1884-1962), [[Augusta Victoria Munro Vance]] (1887-1988), and [[Donnellda Donalda Caroline Munro]] (1888-1966).
James was raised Brethren, and his brother Hugh served as an elder in a Winnipeg assembly ([[St. Vital Gospel Hall, Winnipeg, MB]]). In 1891, the family had moved to Bothwell, Ontario.
