Pre-DGH assembly efforts

Prior to 1878, Isaac Powless (Powlis?) resided in the Mill Point area of Ontario, and there was an exclusive (EB) assembly meeting in his home, until he relocated in 1881 to Deseronto which became the Deseronto Meeting Room which met thru 1896.

There was a Gospel initiative by A.S. Rolph and his brother Raymond of the Belleville Gospel Hall in 1884 that resulted in over a dozen Mohawk Indians making profession of faith, and there was an assembly of 20 started in that area in that year, known here as the Deseronto Assembly. It is unknown how many years that assembly continued, but it has been noted from Reg Badgley & Allen Madigan of this present assembly that the Mohawk Indians have been influenced by the Pentecostals, although there have been many native children who have frequented their Sunday School in different eras, and there were a couple native families in fellowship in the 1940's.

DGH early history

Some unnamed itinerants traveled thru Deseronto in 1898, and the Wager family made a profession of faith, and an assembly was planted, which continues today as Deseronto Gospel Hall.
