George was born around 1831 to Myron & Susan Stevens in PA. Siblings included:

Career

Postmaster

At the age of 25, George was appointed postmaster of Standing Stone, Bradford County, PA, on Aug 19, 1856 which he served until April 29, 1862 when he was transferred to Stevensville, PA which he served until 1866. While serving as postmaster, he was also listed in 1860 as a merchant.

At the age of 38, in 1870, George was living in Cedar Falls, IA, employed as a cabinet maker.

George's wife was Angeline.
