In 1923, Margaret Abrams' brother John McConnell (b. 1890 Munhall, PA - d. 1952 Grosse Pointe, Wayne, MI) traveled to Surabaya, Indonesia as a salesman on behalf of U.S. Steel Products, previously as such in the Netherlands & India between 1920-1923. He was later a salesman for Bethlehem Steel, and in fellowship with Detroit Christ Methodist (active 1847-2010), founded as Beaubien Street Church which primarily spoke German in its early years.
In 1912, James Abrams & Margaret McConnell were married in the McConnell home on Main St., Butler. W.R. Craig, pastor of Butler First Presbyterian (1797-), officiated the wedding. Interesting to note that one of the two founding elders of that church (as organized in 1812) was Thomas Dodds, of possible ancestry to one of the same name who is a current (2025) correspondent of Bethel Bible Chapel of Bethel Park. Also worth noting there was a Rev. James McConnell in 1811 who was pastoring nearby.

College St., Canonsburg, PA; Ernest & Alice were in fellowship prior to emigrating to the U.S. with Brook Street Chapel in Tottenham, London, England, They arrived in the U.S. on Oct. 26th, 1910, they settling initially in Cincinnati, Ohio where Ernest was employed with the E.V. Edwards Manufacturing Co. He was naturalized in 1917, and transferred to the Canonsburg Steel and Iron Works where he served as a secretary and assistant treasurer until retiring in 1945. He was remembered at Friendship for his regular pastoral visits to those in need of spiritual counsel. In 1920, the Haines family had a boarder at 314 W. College St., named G.H. Hildred (b. 1860 OH), who was foreman of the iron and steel mill where Ernest worked.
- Ernest George Haines 1917-1961 (b. 1871 Holloway, Islington, London, Eng. - d. 1961 Canonsburg, PA), son of George Samuel Haines (b. 1852 Sawbridgeworth/Bramfield, Hertfordshire, Eng. - d. 1893) & Mary Elizabeth Watson Haines (b. 1847 Kingsland, London, Eng. - d. 1926 Willesden, Mid., Eng.). In 1881, George was employed as a butcher in Tottenham.
- Alice Elizabeth Bush Haines 1917-1954 (b. 1872 London, Eng.; m. 1901; d. 1954 Canonsburg, PA), daughter of George Bush. Memorial by George Bates, as well as Kenneth T. Romig of First Baptist of Canonsburg.

John Reihner Leonard, son of Frank Leonard (b. 1867 East Brady / Brady's Bend, Clarion, PA - d. 1953 Wendel, Westmoreland, PA) & Rose Reihner Leonard (b. 1867 Pgh., PA - d. 1943 Washington, PA). Their wedding was officiated by William Jenkin John (1857-1942), a Welshman who pastored there (1915-1922) at First Baptist of Canonsburg, as well as Newberry Brown Cox (1900-1976), interim pastor (1924-1926) and later a missionary in Guatemala whose son David married Jack Wyrtzen's daughter Mary Ann in 1956. First Baptist was among the churches that also commended Harry Stam to missionary work. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army as a bomb recon "instructor at major troop installations in the southern states". He also operated a surplus store, including the brokerage of military decommissioned vehicles. He was discharged from active duty in Jan. 1946, and from the reserve in 1954 with the rank of Lt. Col. John had two sisters: Mary Leonard Saint & Mrs. Everett Seal.
