  • Lt. Col. John Reihner Leonard 1962-1964 (b. 1899 South Washington, PA - d. 1964 Canonsburg, PA), son of Frank Leonard (b. 1867 East Brady / Brady's Bend, Clarion, PA - d. 1953 Wendel, Westmoreland, PA) & Rose Reihner Leonard (b. 1867 Pgh., PA - d. 1943 Washington, PA). In 1935, he founded the Universal Oil and Gas Co., distributing petroleum for the Pure Oil Co. of the Republic of the Congo, then Cities Service Oil Co. until 1945 as an area distributor for Atlantic Refining Co. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army as a bomb recon "instructor at major troop installations in the southern states" He was discharged from active duty in Jan. 1946, and from the reserve in 1954.

Avril had two sisters: Mary Haines (b. 1906 London, Eng. - d. 1922 Canonsburg, PA) & Freda Haines Bates (b. 1906 London, Eng. - d. 1996 Dayton, Webster, IA). Avril was voted by some as most likely to become a deaconess, if St. Clair had those. Avril spent her pre-marriage years at Friendship Gospel Chapel, PA wwhere her parents remained.
