Arthur Rainsford Dixon

Arthur Rainsford Dixon was born December 6, 1867 in Sackville, NB and served as one of the correspondents for the Sackville Meeting Room, NB a Tunbridge Wells Exclusive assembly in New Brunswick from 1908-1944, prior to which he may have been Methodist. He died in 1944.

Family

Ancestry

He was the son of Capt. Robson Morice Dixon (1838-1874) & Elisabeth Boultenhouse Dixon (b. 1844 Sackville -1871). He had two sisters who died as infants. Robson was the son of Leonard Dixon (b. 1808 Sackville - d. 1875) & Elizabeth Robson Dixon (b. 1812 England). Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Robson. Leonard was the son of Charles Dixon Jr. (b. 1766 Hutton, Yorkshire, England - d. 1855 Rock Island, Illinois) & Elizabeth Humphrey Dixon (b. 1778 Famouth, Nova Scotia - d. 1864 Payson, Utah).

Marriage

In 1889, Arthur married Louise Laura Deans (1864-1892), also from Sackville, NB. Louise was the daughter of Richard Deans (b. 1822 Ireland - d. (1902-1910) Sackville, NB), a ship carpenter, & Mary Hagan Egan Deans (b. 1827 Nova Scotia - d. 1911+ Sackville, NB).

Wife's family

Louise's parents were Catholic and interesting to note that by 1881, her parents remained Catholic but all their children were Anglican and living at home. Children:

  • Charles A. Deans (b. 1858) ship carpenter
  • Rufus G. Deans (1860-1929) ship carpenter, by 1911 Baptist. Never married.

  • Maud Deans (1870-1891) in 1891 when she died, she was an unmarried Methodist vestmaker.
  • Corey Deans (1877-1930) married Elizabeth Jane Crawford (b. 1889 Shemogue, NB - d. 1962 Lancaster, NB), the daughter of John Crawford (1860-1912) & Celia Ann Cadman Crawford (1868-1957), Presbyterian then Baptist blacksmith & farmer.
  • Alice Deans (1879-1962) married Alben White (b. 1864), a Catholic carpenter; then married a George F. Coleman (b. 1874), a postman. In 1930, Arthur Rainsford Dixon's granddaughter, Hester, was living with George & Alice. Alice died in Bangor, Maine.

Descendants

Arthur & Louise had one child, a daughter named Hazel B. Dixon (b. 1893) who married Fred E. Patterson (b. Feb 1879), who was raised Presbyterian. In 1911, Rainsford was working with his son-in-law Frederick E. Patterson as moulders for a local foundry in Sackville. He identified as "Christian", while Fred & Hazel identified as Baptists.

Fred's parents were John Patterson (b. 1845 NB) & Elizabeth Patterson (b. 1852 NB).

In 1913, Fred emigrated to Taunton, Massachusetts to continue his career in a local stove foundry. They had two children:

  • George A. Patterson (b. 1912)
  • Hester Louise Patterson (1913-2000) married Donald Harold Dustin (b. 1919 Poestenkill, NY - d. 2012 Troy, NY) in 1945 in Troy, NY.

Donald was the son of Harold Frank Dustin (1898-1940) & Eva May Ward Dustin Crogan (1898-1998).

      • Lillian was the daughter of Esaie/Esau Auger (b. 1841 Canada - ) & Elise/Eliza Brouillet Auger (b. 1846 Canada - d. 1901 Colrain, MA)
        • Elise was the daughter of Francois Bronillet & Margaret Dupor Bronillet.
