"This summer I have been back here in Southwestern Iowa again seeking to follow up an encouraging work we saw begun in a new country district last summer. A hearty new assembly was started at Maple Valley school house, and this year more have been saved and the work goes on very well.
As the weather was so terribly hot and dry this summer, we conducted our meetings largely out doors and in spite of crop shortage due to heat and drought, the people came out in goodly numbers eager to hear the Word. A nice feature of our work here was in spreading the Gospel to the surrounding towns and villages. We fixed up some old radio horns to use as megaphones and visited for miles around singing and preaching the gospel through these improvised horns. This attracted a good deal of attention and we were able to reach large crowds of people who listened well to the old, old story in song and message and received gospel tracts.
As it is cooler now, we have pitched the old tent in a new place, right across from one who was saved this summer and are continuing on through this month. May the Lord bless your efforts to acquaint the Lord’s dear people with pioneer work that is being carried on by our Evangelists. I have been at it for twenty-nine years this fall and like nothing better than pioneering in the Gospel."
