Joseph Hubert Claar, better known as Joe Claar, was born on Aug. 21, 1927 in Bedford, Pennsylvania, and died on Mar. 30, 2020 at Carmel Hills Retirement Community where he resided the last few years of his life. He founded the Charlotte Gospel Hall in his home in 1962, and was active with that assembly thru the remainder of his days, and the founder of "Inspiration Card and Gift Bookstore", managed many years by Bob McClenaghan, that met in a shopping mall in Charlotte, in conjunction with Books For Christians, a publishing company started in 1972 that was best known for its commentary series, The Serious Christian.
