Robert James Sherrard was born July 6, 1931 in Michigan to Robert Andrew Sherrard and Elizabeth Anne Houghton Sherrard.

Education
Bob became the first member of his family to graduate from college, earning an undergrad degree from San Jose State University, and a Masters degree from Santa Clara University.
Career
For over 30 years, Bob was "a passionate educator" with Santa Clara Unified School District, as both a teacher and a guidance counselor. The writer of his memorial for the San Jose Mercury News said, "Bob touched the lives of many with his warm smile and gentle sense of humor".
Military
Bob "proudly served" in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War where his service included a tour of duty in Japan.
Marriage
Bob married Barbara C. Welch on Aug. 6, 1955 in Alameda, California.
Children
Bob and Barbara raised two children:
- Robert C. Sherrard of East Palo Alto, CA
- Stefanie Sherrard Zajac of Palo Alto, CA married Jeff Zajac, and have children.
Brethren Links
Bob's mother was raised Presbyterian, but his parents raised them initially among assemblies in Detroit, Michigan. In 1956, Robert was a founding member of San Jose Gospel Chapel, which is presently known as Hillview Bible Chapel where he remained active until his passing in 2010. His memorial states, "While Bob was a man of many interests, central to his life was his dedication to numerous church activities, including Bible study and singing from his favorite hymnbooks."
Death
After "a courageous battle with many infirmities", Bob passed away peacefully June 2, 2010, survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara. A memorial and celebration of Bob's life was held on Sunday afternoon, June 27, at Peninsula Bible Church in Cupertino, CA. Memorial donations were requested to Camp Koinonia of Watsonville, CA
