Greene family

Addition of the large Greene family in the early 2000's was crucial to the decision for the assembly to continue on a number of years before folding in '10.

Marshall was a paternal descendant of John Greene (b. 1620 St. Thomas, Salisbury, Wiltshire, Eng. - d. 1708 Warwick, R.I.), who served as Deputy Governor of Rhode Island in 1683, who emigrated in 1635 to Boston, and was in Warwick by 1648. He was a maternal descendant of Judge William Greene (b. 1671 Salisbury, Eng. - d. 1722 Trenton, Burlington, NJ), who was one of the first Justices of Hunterdon Co., NJ in 1714. Trenton, the present capital of New Jersey, was originally part of Hunterdon Co., and William could rightly be named among its founders. William's son Benjamin was on the first town council.

Enlisting in the U.S. Army, Marshall served 21 years. He also worked for Great Plains Mfg. for 22 years as their Environmental Health & Safety Director. He was later involved as a server with the Men's Encounter, as well as an elder at New Trail Fellowship and Lifehouse Church in Abilene, both affiliated with the B.I.C. He and Alisa have ten children, thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. His memorial was at Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Presbyterian, officiated by Stan Norman, Mark Stanger & Brian Emig, as per his obit.

Silva family

  • Marcos Silva 1973-1978. Marcos was introduced to the brethren as a child via Bethany Chapel, Yonkers, NYC. In 1973, he was stationed at Fort Riley, and with the help of an assembly address book, he visited G&T on many weekends, and assisted Orville & Lois Robson on their farm. He also often attended the combined youth group in the home of George Easter.

In 1974 when his term with the Army was up, he enrolled at KSU as a student, and assisted with an interdenominational coffeeshop "Peace of Mind" in Manhattan. After graduating in 1978, he returned to Yonkers, NYC for a number of years until relocating to Richmond, Virginia where he and his family reside, actively serving the Lord in retirement at Grace Bible Church of Richmond. One of GBC's Bible teachers is Stephen Boom, whose father Phil is the current president of Emmaus University, and whose brother is the administrator at Pittsboro Christian Village, NC.

Stanger family

  • Mark Stanger 2003-2010. While serving as an elder at Garland Bible Chapel in Dallas, Texas in the early 2000's, he offered to teach a series on the Seven Churches of Revelation at G&T, his father-in-law Keith reportedly said, "you can come, but don't expect a crowd" or something to that effect. It was advertised in area newspapers, and very well attended and appreciated, adding at least one family, inspiring Mark & Lynette to prayerfully consider relocating to the area, which helped the assembly stay afloat a few more years before its closure in 2010. Mark was raised in Des Moines, Iowa and studied at Culver City Bible School where he met Lynette, and later at Dallas Theological Seminary earning a degree. He ministered many summers at Kansas Bible Camp, and currently pastors the nearby Mt. Pleasant EPC.
