Faculty
Dr. James Naismith 1973-1983
- James Theodore Naismith (b. 1923 Narsapur, India - d. 2009 Toronto), son of Archibald "Archie" Naismith (b. 1895 Carluke - d. 1989 Lesmahagow) & Alice Mary Cannon Naismith (b. 1897 Shalden, Hants - d. 1979 Falkirk).
As per his bio on VFC (where 281 recordings of his sermons may be found): "At the age of five, James was entrusted to the care of a family in Scotland. He graduated high school at age 16 and university at age 21, becoming the youngest doctor in Scotland." He was one of [KLBC's] founders and most loved teachers, although he retired from there when he was 60 in order to "devote himself more fully to the Lord's work" traveling overseas "preaching, teaching and encouraging God's people". He authored many books and magazine articles.
No definite relation to the James Naismith (1861-1939) that is credited with the invention of basketball, although their ancestors did appear to have potentially crossed paths a few places in Canada and Scotland.
