John & Avril were members of First Baptist Church of Canonsburg from 1924-1962, when they joined Beechwood Bible Chapel.

In 1935, he founded the Universal Oil and Gas Co., distributing petroleum for the Pure Oil Co. of the Republic of the Congo, then Cities Service Oil Co. until 1945 as an area distributor for Atlantic Refining Co. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army as a bomb recon "instructor at major troop installations in the southern states" He was discharged from active duty in Jan. 1946, and from the reserve in 1954 with the rank of Lt. Col. John had two sisters: Mary Leonard Saint & Mrs. Everett Seal.

Munro family

Since 2006, as per his wiki, John has been the senior pastor of Calvary Church, the largest church in Charlotte, NC, co-founded in 1939 by William Franklin "Frank" Graham (1888-1962), father of evangelist Billy Graham (1918-2018). Prior to his arrival at CC, and subsequent to his tenure at TBC, John pastored Grace Chapel in Halifax, Nova Scotia 1992-1996, and Calvary Bible Church in Kalamazoo, MI.

He currently hosts an internationally syndicated daily & weekly 25-minute radio program known as The Verdict, and has been a regular columnist for Decision magazine, and has spoken frequently at the Billy Graham Training Center. Also see John's FB.
