Leslie McIntosh Grant

Leslie McIntosh Grant was a laboring brother among the assemblies, and helped start the Grace and Truth Gospel Hall KLC assembly in Edmonton, Alberta, and ministered around North America, while based in Westlock, AB. He was born May 28, 1917 in Innisfail, Red Deer, Alberta, the son of Gilbert Grant and his wife Mary Emily Watson Grant.

Gilbert Grant

Gilbert was born on Sept. 4, 1883 at Inverness, Highland, Scotland to William Longmore Grant (b. 1851 Keith, Moray, Scot. - d. 1946 Bowden, Red Deer, AB) & Helen Boyne Ross Grant (b. 1853 Elgin, Moray, Scot. - d. 1921 Bowden, Red Deer, AB). Gilbert died on Sept. 9, 1969 in Edmonton.

Mary Emily Watson Grant

Mary was born on Aug. 20, 1887 at Yarmouth, Elgin East, Ontario, Canada to a merchant & farmer, Elijah Bunker Watson (b. 1855 Peel, Wellington, ON - d. 1944 Edmonton, AB) & Louisa Augusta Vaughan Watson (b. 1857 Eng. - d. 1930 Pickardville, AB). Mary died Oct. 7, 1986 at Calgary, AB.

Conversion and Early Ministry

Leslie was saved when he was 17 years old. He worked in an optical firm until he was 25, at which time he was called to labor for the Lord full-time. During this time of early ministry, he traveled via bicycle among farmers in the Peace River Country in Northern Alberta. He lived in a trapper's cabin, and the assembly at Westlock shared in the fruits of his labors. Leslie and his father, Gilbert, helped in planting the Grace and Truth Gospel Hall in Edmonton.

Marriage

On Jan. 8, 1948 (or Aug. 1, 1948) he married Frances Lucille Smiley of Staples, MN. Frances was born in 1921 to Elsworth James Smiley (b. 1884 - d. 1973 Saint Maries, Benewah, ID) and Vina May Estabrooks Smiley (b. 1894 Osage, Becker, MN - d. 1977 Saint Maries, Benewah, ID)

Elsworth was the son of George Covert Smiley (b. 1860 Nelson, Buffalo, MN - d. 1936 Todd, Hubbard, MN) & Caroline "Carrie" Davis Smiley (b. 1859 Spring Brook, Dunn, WI - d. 1934 Todd, Hubbard, MN.

Vina was the daughter of George Keeler Estabrooks (b. 1861 Farmington, Dakota, MN - d. 1945 Staples, Todd, MN) & Olive Ann Plummer Estabrooks (b. 1865 Castle Rock, Dakota (or Clay), MN - d. 1949 Staples, Todd, MN).

Children

Leslie & Frances had two sons and seven daughters, all nine born in Westlock, AB.

Death

Leslie and Frances both died in the Seattle area where they had lived since 1974. Frances died first in 2004, and then her husband on July 29, 2011 in Kenmore, King, WA.
