==Childhood==
William was born September 19, 1914 in Essex, New Jersey to William (1888-1963) and Robina Burns Jelley (1890-1956). His father was a self-employed accountant, and spent part of his childhood in Ireland. His siblings were: Robina (1916-1999), Samuel (1918-1999), Marjorie (1922-2008), David (1925-2011), Alfred (1928-1998), and Edwin (1929- ).
==Marriage and children==
He married Hulda V. Lawler (1915-1994), daughter of Austin J. & Mildred Burton Lawler, and they had two children, [[Virginia H. Jelley Kuhlman]] (1937-2009) and [[William Jelley IV]] (1940-). In 1940, they were living in East Orange, New Jersey. William died September 3, 1990.
His son William Jelley, IV and his wife Nina were residing in West Long Branch, New Jersey, as of 2009.
His daughter Virginia, or "Ginger" as she was better known, was in fellowship with Chambersburg Gospel Chapel from 1971-2009, in Pennsylvania, as well as serving as a "dorm mother" for many [[Messiah College ]] students, along with her husband Edward Kuhlman.
