* LOI 1945-9: Hugh Thorpe (Pawtucket, R.I.:
"After 3 1/2 months in Deland, Florida we are now in Riviera, a little place near West Palm Beach. We hope to be here for about two weeks only, as there is not the need here compared to the former place. There are few laborers in this part of the South and fewer in the summer time. Therefore, we have decided to remain here for the summer as well as the winter, and not go to the state of Maine this summer as we have done for a number of years."
* LOI 1946-9: Hugh Thorpe (Pawtucket, R.I.:
* LOI 1947-9: Maine:
"Brethren James McCullough of Bridgeport, Conn., and Sam Rea of New Jersey are under canvas at Augusta, Maine. They are seeking to strengthen the little assembly here and preach the Gospel to the unsaved. A needy field. They need our fervent prayers."
* LOI 1948-2: James McCullough (Stratford, Conn., and Sam Rea (Hatboro, PA:
"After laboring for some time and seeing blessing in Maine, these brethren visited Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. They returned home in December."
* LOI 1948-7: James McCullough (Stratford, Conn.:
"Br. McCullough hopes to engage in tent work in the needy state of Maine this summer. A nice work of grace was seen in Maine last year, and there is exercise about following up that work with further meetings. Some of those who were saved last year travel 45 miles to remember the Lord each Lord's day. Some others are awaiting baptism and there still is a good interest among the unsaved. There is a good prospect of a testimony being raised up in this needy state and the prayers of the Lord's people are asked for the work."
* LOI 1948-8: Edwin J. Tarp (Boston, MA: "During June brother Tharp ministered to the saints in Washington, D.C. and in the five assemblies in Baltimore, MD. Later he expected to spend some time on the northern coast of Maine." * LOI 1948-9: Samuel J. Rea (Hatboro, Pa.:
"There are but two small assemblies in the State of Maine. Bro. J. McCullough of Bridgeport, Conn., and I tried a tent in the city of Augusta last year, but with little success. Then had cottage meetings in Madison, about 40 miles to the North, having met some Christians from there. We had splendid attendance from the start and several professed faith in Christ. One man who is a successful farmer and businessman preaches to everyone he meets. There is now a group of ten or twelve who have been carrying on a gospel testimony assisted by a brother from Augusta.

* T&T 1950-8: "Brother James McCullough was taken with appendix trouble and was rushed to the hospital in Augusta, Maine, where he was operated on. We are glad to say that he is now out of the hospital and is doing well."
* LOI 1950-8: "Br. McCullough was delayed starting tent meetings north of Augusta, Maine, because of illness. He was operated on for appendicitis and was in the hospital for over a week. We understand he is recovering nicely."
* LOI 1951-11: J. McCullough (Stratford, Conn.: "We are happy to report an interesting summer of good meetings in the tent in Maine. A few professed faith in Christ and we had the joy of baptizing three others in a river. These have been received into the little assembly near Augusta. We have had our tent for five successive seasons in Maine and while at times the work has been uphill and discouraging, yet we have reason to thank God for all that has been accomplished there in recent years. We had the joy of seeing a new testimony to the Name of the Lord raised up in those parts last year. The believers go on nicely. They need help and we have sought to be with them as much as possible during the tent meetings. I am hoping (D.V.) to return there soon for more meetings."
* T&T 1954-9: Rose Valley, P.E.I.: "A.W. Joyce had a happy visit to the assemblies here, and in Rose Valley in a portable hall with A. Ramsay and R. Harris when several professed to be saved. A visit of brother Williams of Venezuela was much enjoyed. He and A.W. Joyce called at Moncton and also had a good visit at Augusta, Maine, on the way back to Ontario. Since then brethren Harris and Ramsay have seen further blessing in the Gospel."
* T&T 1956-8: Augusta, Maine: "An excellent conference was reported. After the conference, brother James McCullough left for Madison, Maine, and, while there, suffered a heart attack and is now in the hospital in Skowhegan, Maine, where he will be for at least two weeks, with a period of rest following. Pray for our brother who for many years has faithfully preached the Word to saint and sinner. He had intended joining his son in tent work in Hudson, N.H., a new field."
