This assembly, on the southwestern shore of Montréal island, was begun through the efforts of [[Raymond Taylor]] who had earlier established the work at Boyce Street in the eastern end of the city. In the mid-sixties, a woman living in this area had been saved through the testimony of her sister who was in fellowship at Boyce Street. Her husband eventually came to the Lord and meetings were begun in their home. By 1971, some twenty people were meeting together for Bible studies and larger quarters were being sought.
By By now, Raymond had been joined by [[Marcel Laplante]] and Mr. and Mrs. [[Robert Lortie]], recent graduates of [[Bethel Bible School]] in Sherbrooke. By In 1973, Église Emmanuel was functioning as a New Testament assembly. Within five years some thirty believers were in fellowship. By the early 1980s, folk from this assembly, still quite small, were meeting with others living in the same area who were attending the assembly on the south shore, Groupe biblique de la Rive-sud. With the blessing of the latter, a new assembly was formed in 1982 and incorporated under the name of Groupe biblique de l’Ouest de Montréal.
