History
This is a French open brethren assembly founded in 2007, still serving the Rouyn-Noranda area of Québec in 2021. It is of no direct relation to the previous Assemblée Chrétienne de Rouyn-Noranda, QC.
An earlier assembly at Rouyn-Noranda had ceased functioning by the late-1980s, followed by a number of years without such a testimony at this location. A decade later, there was talk of beginning a new work and Bible studies were begun along with some evangelistic efforts. However, it was not until 2007 with the arrival of Tony Bissonnette and wife Nathalie with their family that the present Assemblée chrétienne de Rouyn-Noranda materialized with the help of Le Réseau.
Starting Starting with ten persons at the beginning of July, within three months there were some fifty in attendance. Within six months the Anglican church had been purchased to accommodate the new assembly, composed of believers from various denominational backgrounds, many scarred from earlier divisions and unhappy church experiences.
In In 2013, Gérard Chouinard with Gaétane his wife were commended to the Lord’s work in the area, including that at nearby Camp Joli-B. After eleven years of ministry here, the Bissonnettes moved on to the Quebec City area and were replaced by Vincent Lemieux-Mercier and his wife Caroline who had been commended to the work in 2018.
