Louie was the daughter of the Rev. Axel Tjernlund (b. 1854 Galtstrom, Sundsvalls kommun, Västernorrlands län, Sweden - d. 1920 Portland, OR) & Sigrid Albertina Engstrom Tjernlund (b. 1864 Trelleborg landsförsamling, Skåne, Sweden - d. 1948 Portland, OR). In 1890, the Tjernlund family resided in Boston, [[Massachusetts|MA]], then Worcester, then by 1900 in St. Paul, MN, and by 1912, in Great Falls, [[Montana|MT]]. Axel was employed as a Swedish Baptist pastor in St. Paul, Great Falls, Cambridgeport, etc. Axel & Sigfrid were married at Boston in 1886, Axel was living at that time in St. Paul pastoring a church at the age of 32, and Sigfrid lived at Cambridge, MA and was 22.
