The Birtwhistle family emigrated to Canada in 1912, settling first at Winnipeg, MB, he was working there in 1916 as a railway clerk. He then went to Vancouver, then in 1922 to Los Angeles, CA. In 1930, Frank lived in Santa Barbara with his parents, employed as a commercial artist. In 1950 in Santa Barbara he owned a medical lab where Beryl worked. Parents: George P. Birtwhistle (b. 1862 Chester, Ches, Eng. - d. 1931 Ladner, B.C.) & Mary Edith Todhunter Birtwhistle (b. 1866 Liverpool, Eng. - d. 1935 Woodland, Yolo, CA). George Birtwhistle was a technical teacher in Los Angeles, then the first teacher at the T.J. Trapp technical school. Frank's brother was George Birtwhistle, Jr. (Winnipeg, MB).
