He served as a correspondent for the [[Knoxville Meeting Room, TN]] by 1889, and by 1896 had moved to farm in Chattanooga. He relocated in 1903 to Birmingham until his death. Worked at the Railway Express Co., Hamilton National Bank & the Lewis Mitchell Auto Co. In 1932, he owned the Citizens Motor Co. in Chattanooga, partnered with E.E. Farris.
