** founded by Carl (1909-1962) & Agnes Burnham in 1933 at The Furnace Street Mission founded by Bill Denton, then converting a storeroom near the west side of Akron with first services in Jan. 1934, influenced by Paul Rader converted under A.B. Simpson. Carl was led to Christ by Bill Denton (1895-1982) at a crusade in 1928 who personally discipled him, then by B.R. Lakin (1901-1984) an evangelist in WV & VA. Carl attended MBI. B.A. Burnham, David's father who invited Carl to Denton's crusade) preached at the first morning service on Jan. 15, 1934, and Carl in the evening with 30 in attendance in the storeroom, as per Agnes Burnham. By 1947, there were 450 members. By 1955, it had 1,000 members. In 1962, Carl's son David was called as "senior pastor", which may have been when it transitioned from PB to an independent. By 1969, there were 3,200 members. 1973, there were 5,000. 2003, there were 8,000 and started a second "Green" Campus. Seven campuses by 2021. Founded "Camp Carl".
