There have been open brethren assemblies in the Providence/Warwick area of [[Rhode Island]] since before 1904. Buttonwoods Bible Chapel is the eldest active. [https://omeka.religiousecologies.org/files/original/ffbda27cf7a4644784188a55a6560ab0274c781f.jpg 1926 USCoRB] indicated that there were 51 in fellowship (23 men, 28 women) including 6 S.S. teachers, presiding over 5 children (for a total of 56 in 1926). The Hall was a rented facility (with $500 in expenses). In 1927, there was also the [[Ives Street Gospel Hall, RI|Ives Street Gospel Hall]], also in Providence. In 1978, they BBC started [https://buttonwoodsschool.com/ Buttonwoods School], a Christ-centered preschool & kindergarten. [[Warwick Believers Fellowship, RI|Warwick Believers Fellowship]] hived off from BBC in the early 1980's.
