==Thonney family==
The WW assembly met initially in Jean Thonney's home. His family emigrated to the U.S. on Apr. 15, 1850. By 1856 he lived at Greenville, Bond, IL, and in 1870 he was at Beaver Creek, Bond, IL where it is presumed the year he relocated to Walla Walla, likely via the Oregon Trail. Henry Rochat lived here 1883-1884.

''The Evening Statesman'' (TES) 1905-6-7 (as per Newspapers.com):
"The sale of the 34-acre fruit farm of John Thonney lying at the head of Pleasant street, near the new Berney school, to C.A. Beck, will probably be announced in a few days... the price to be paid for the 34 acres is $10,000. The Thonney place is considered to be one of the finest pieces of suburban property around Walla Walla. With the exception of a few acres the place is in a high state of cultivation, most of it being leased to Chinese for gardening purposes. Mr. Thonney who has made his home on the place for several years will move to Walla Walla. He is having plans drawn for a $4,000 residence to be erected on Lincoln near Howard street on a lot he recently acquired. The new residence will be a story and a half building consisting of eight rooms with the first story of stone." The stonework was done by the Walla Walla Brick & Stone Co., 507 W. Main St., with W.M. Calhoun as GM.

''TES'' 1906-11-22:
"Thonney Mill costs $50,000. Thonney Brothers' new chop and feed mill, being erected on property recently purchased near the Pacific Coast Elevator company will be completed and in operation in another week. John Thonney, a member of the firm, stated this morning that the new mill is practically under roof and the machinery will be installed within the next few days. The main building is 30x40 feet with two wings, 16x40 feet. The mill will be operated by a 15 horsepower electric motor and will have a capacity of 30 tons of chopped feed a day."
* Jean Gabriel Thonney '''1870-1902''' (b. 1827 Vullien, Vaud, [[Switzerland]] - d. 1902 WW, WA), son of Ferdinand Thonney (1760-1832) and Julie Bahon Thonney (1784-1836),
