He was raised Wesleyan Methodist thru 1871, of which year he was employed as a telegraph operator in Thurlow, ON. Dr. Henry Allen Tupper (b. 1856 Washington, Wilkes, GA - d. 1927 Baltimore, MD) officiated Alex & Florence's wedding in D.C. in 1919. Edward A. Rule was best man, Miss Margaret E. Hamilton was maid of honor, Florence's uncle Ernest C. Morris gave her away, Miss Ingrid Westesson was musician.  Tupper served as VP of the Southern Baptist Convention, president of the NY Baptist Ministers' Conference, and held pastorates at Baptist churches in Harrodsburg, KY, Louisville, Brooklyn, NYC and Washington D.C., the latter being First Baptist of 16th & O Sts. 1919-1924.
