Dr. Andrew G. Hamilton was a self-employed optometrist, Jr. He was raised Wesleyan Methodist thru 1871, of which year he was employed as a telegraph operator in Thurlow, ONbut eventually became a respected optometrist. His mother, Eleanor Daly Booth Phelps-Hamilton, was a daughter of Capt. Joshua Booth (b. 1758 Wallkil, Orange, NY - d. 1813 Fredericksburg, ON) & Sarah Margaret Fraser Booth (b. 1767 Poughkeepsie, Dutchess, NY - d. 1847 Ernestown Twp., Lennox-Addington, ON). Joshua was employed as a miller, and fought in the War of 1812 commanding a company of the 1st Addington Militia and killed in the line of duty. He was also a member of the Washington Board of Trade 1927-1952. His church 1922-1952 was Fourth Presby.
