[[Emmaus University]] is an accredited, four-year private college in Dubuque, Iowa, historically affiliated with the Open Brethren. It it offers double majors in both professional and biblical studies.
=History=
It was founded in 1941 as Emmaus Bible School, initially established in Toronto, Ontario, by John Smart, Ed Harlow and Ernest Tatham. The college relocated in 1947 to Chicago, eventually in Oak Park, Illinois. In 1984, it relocated to its present location at 2570 Asbury Road, Dubuque, Iowa, and was renamed Emmaus Bible College. In 2024, it added a Masters program, and rebranded as '''Emmaus University'''.
=Accreditation & Demographics=
Emmaus has been a member of the [https://www.etaworld.org/ Evangelical Training Association ] (ETA) since 1956. The college is nationally accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education, as well as by the Higher Learning Commission of NCA. Emmaus is also a member of the Association of Christian Schools International, and of the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.
Around 40% of Emmaus students come from Brethren backgroundsof many types (particularly Bible/Gospel Chapels), with the remainder from other evangelical backgrounds. The school offers men's and women's basketball, men's soccer, and women's volleyball on the intercollegiate level.
