In 1934, his job was "timekeeper" at P&G. Bill's birthplace was in Sparta, Illinois and there is a high likelihood that he was in fellowship at the [[Sparta Gospel Hall, IL|Sparta Gospel Hall]] there as his maternal grandfather, William Charles Sommerville, Sr. (1849-1918) was a primary correspondent there in 1904.

Leroy may have been active as an evangelist in 1910 based out of the [[Garnett Gospel Hall, KS|Garnett Gospel Hall]] in Kansas. In 1900, he resided in Sullivan, [[Tennessee]] employed as a minister.
