Baker family
In 1841, Caleb's father Isaac was a hawker (salesman) in Hailsham. By 1851, he was more specifically a traveling "chapman hawker" (booklet salesman), and in 1871 as a "general dealer" (operated a general store). In 1872, Caleb was co-founder of [https://www.westernawningcompany.com/ Baker-Lockwood Western Awning Co.], initially in Chicago.It is said that when the Great Chicago Fire happened in 1871, their stock survived as they had buried it in the river. After the fire, they relocated to Kansas City in 1872.
In 1850, Darwin Roe (Eliza's 1st husband) resided in Barker, Broome, NY which is part of the Binghamton metro. Eliza's first husband was Darwin S. Roe (b. 1835 NYC, NY - d. 1876 Chicago, IL), son of Alanson Roe (b. 1808 Dutchess Co., NY - d. 1899 Coventry, NY) & Louisa Smith Roe (b. 1810 Chenango Co., NY - d. 1888 Coventry, NY). * Grace Myra Roe Telfer (b. 1868 Binghamton, NY - d. 1958 Pueblo, CO). Husband: George Telfer (b. 1864 Glasgow, [[Scotland]] - d. 1926 Pueblo, CO), son of James Telfer (b. 1820 Garvald, East Lothian, Scot. - d. 1877 Glasgow, Scot.) & Agnes Forrest Telfer (b. 1822 Tranent, East Lothian, Scot.; m. 1847 North Leith, Midlothian, Scot.; d. 1883 Chicago, Cook, IL).
** Annis R. Telfer (b. 1893 KCMO - d. 1968 Pueblo, CO). From +1920-1950+, Annis was a gradeschool math teacher in Pueblo.
** Edward Shireburne Telfer (b. 1895 KCMO - d. 1964 South Gate, L.A., CA). Wife: Frances Adele Tillett Telfer (b. 1910 Lathrop, Clinton, MO - d. 1973 Riverside, CA), daughter of Eugene Tillett. Frances' family moved to Pueblo in 1926. Their wedding in 1929 took place in the home of Frances' aunt Mrs. M.R. Smith, and officiated by C. Arlin Heydon, pastor of the local [https://baptistnews.com/article/sale-of-baptist-church-benefits-local-charities First Baptist] (1872-2016) which at its peak had over a thousand members. In 2007, the church raised $3,600 to provide a fifty cent discount for 616 vehicles over the course of a day as a type of "servant evangelism", as per an article in Baptist News. Edward & Frances moved to California about 1945. Frances moved to South Gate in 1971. Her memorial was at Hillside Church with Marvin C. Anderson officiating.
** Gilman Roe Telfer (b. 1899 KCMO - d. 1969). Wife (1924-1937): Katherine Mary Ruddy Telfer (b. 1902 Pueblo, CO - d. 1972), daughter of Patrick "Pat" Ruddy (b. 1855 Ireland; emig. 1871; d. 1932 Pueblo, CO) & Katie Ward Ruddy (b. 1867 Ireland; m. 1897 Pueblo, CO; d. 1943 Pueblo, CO). Gilman & Catherine's wedding in Pueblo was officiated by Austin M. Bertram.
** Forrest Caleb Telfer, Sr. (b. 1907 Toledo, OH - d. 1965 Custer Co., CO). Wife: Dariel Doris Pugh Telfer (1909-1987 Pueblo, CO), daughter of Albert Leonidas Pugh (b. 1875 Baker Twp., Crawford, KS) & Minnie Birdsall Pugh (b. 1881 Rawlins Co., KS - d. 1974 Pueblo, CO).
